Few Thoughts On the Current Content and The Future.. (TL : DR Warning)
Hi Guys
I have played the new BOP DLC.. and I enjoyed it. My friends however have blasted it and stopped logging.. I told one friend 'y'know.. *anything* they would have done would have been a step down after such a big event as the Metal Crisis.. so we went street level so they could build it up again..' I *did* feel OW BOP Metro was the least amount of work that could be done.. it's just a clean version of Metro they have *probably* had since before Beta (I've seen a clean version in very old videos.. minus the Brainiac and other destruction).. but I enjoyed the OW missions.. especially Harley's Pet Safari hehe.. idk what the mission is *actually* called.
The Alert.. wow that feels like a straight up elite Alert, I really enjoyed fighting Amazo; I thought it was a well put together boss fight.. I haven't done Fire & Brimstone yet.. but I enjoyed Clock Tower raid. The solo.. my initial impressions; felt like a copy and paste of the Bruno Mannheim (under) level 30 mission with some new mobs.
The Future..
We see that in BOP Metro.. we are post-Brainiac. I *think* this is the first time we have seen this since Death of Superman.. and only the second time in the game as a whole.
The first post I ever made on these forums (the old forums) was to ask to open up Central City.. this was in 2012. IIRC I wrote a whole post about an opened up Central City and Superboy Prime attacking CC.. but Pro7 came and accounts were moved..
I digress slightly.. We know that the Brainiac threat has passed; once can be a mistake or a fluke, two is a pattern..
Could we be getting OW 'clean' Metro and Gotham?.. more importantly, I would still love to see Central City opened up.. with player bases and content. If not a clean Gotham.. why couldn't get an unbottled/clean South Gotham as say Star City with minor tweaks?
I'd like to see one new City a year and then that city cut up for the rest of the year.. while in the background they make another new city for the next year. Little Bohemia/South Gotham sized city..and just tell the stories they want to tell with that setting..
While I did like seeing Metro City Hall without the Lantern debris.. just recycling Metro.. man! You could have made Star City and done the OW missions there with the Clock Tower (raid) still being in Gotham.. look at the BOP team.. four are from Gotham and one Star City.. what are they doing in Metro?* This wasn't the perfecttime to introduce Star City.. but it was a good opportunity.
The Pet update..
I welcomed it and even artifacted (200) the Grimorum Velum on the now three pet powers..
My impressions.. I tested the pets on lower OW raid bosses @ 292 cr. Sometimes randomly.. imho they felt too sedate, would just stand about doing nothing, their defence wasn't what I was expecting.. good at times but then..
If it were me, I'd up their defence by another 10%. It wasn't until I got to OW Bizarro they did any significant damage and didn't get hit so hard.. OW Raven was OK.. but this is at 292 cr. I tested Turret, Crystal and Fury.. too often I found Turret would just either stand around or take too much damage for it's cr when active.. but then I went and tried Crystal.. she too was taking a lot of damage I hadn't noticed before.. I even wondered if they had the HL defence bug.. I will say this seemed random.. Turret did well against Titans Robot. iirc.. Fury did less well against Titans Robot and died quickly, but his reduction in health seemed 'normal'. idk whats going on there.. OW Ultraman could pretty much 2 shot Turret..
[I tested them against.. Titans Robot; OW E3; Raven GWL; Bizarro, Little Bohemia]
Maybe I haven't understood how Turret works..? I mean.. the hologram gives him a defence buff.. right?? So.. its acts like Offering and Fortify Golem (non PI) giving your pet a boost (of *some* description). right?
Perhaps the 'sedate' thing.. is an ongoing problem?.. I have seen that in the henchmen for months now.. they often stand about doing nothing. This is shown most clearly with BOP OW Metro Meta bounty.. when he teleports you and your henchmen stand about doing nothing for 3+ (?) seconds.. been seeing this since Christmas.. they come to you and just stand there like nothing is going on.
Overall..
I'm pretty happy with the game.. and I realize morale is going to sag after the Metal Crisis, that's not the Devs fault, was always going to happen. Cutting up Metro.. that could have been avoided. While it might seem impossible to the Devs.. 'mind boggling' might be a better term.. it actually *is* possible to to keep the happy times rolling.. and my solution is to have the one new city a year I spoke of.
I actually don't mind going to different locations and using old locations.. with one large.. I feel obvious caveat; there has to be new cities to be used in the future.. the promise is DC Universe Online.. not Gotham and Metropolis Online..
Peace
Sigma

*I am aware Lex is the bad guy for the DLC. He's a Metro guy. I get it. But it felt like an excuse to put the LexCorp tower in something.

SigmaAtom's Guide to being an Officer..The ORS Officer Manual
Welcome to the ORS Officer Manual.
Please take your time to familiarize yourself with the work and ideas represented here. We in ORS also wish to extend these guidelines and training to any ORS child league's senior staff, Officers and Ensigns.
Please read the Terms and Conditions before continuing. This manual is for ORS/ORS child only, by continuing reading you agree to the terms and conditions.
SigmaAtom's Guide to Organizing a League:
"Officer has all League permissions, except to edit permissions and spend prestige.
The first thing you should be taught when becoming an Officer is; never lose your cool. never lose your temper. no matter how much you are goaded. Always be communicative. Be clear in intention and purpose. Be friendly, no one wants to feel shouted at, if they did not understand something, it's 'bad form'. Do not swear, why? because you are garnering respect from people you have never met in person, they do not know your character in real life, they have to believe in you, the easiest way to do this is by not swearing. The community at large has to find you of good character, that you can give honour to your league.. and most of all, it keeps people calm. I cannot stress how important that is. have you ever came online and with 30 mins there is some drama, that looking back could have been easily solved, but exploded? Swearing puts petrol on the flames, not just for arguing either, boisterous chat can so easily lead to making members too 'hepped up' (excited).
Never expose your chat in public. It is humiliating for the people involved, and only goes to show you are unworthy to be an Officer.. if as an officer you have to 'dress someone down' do it in PM ONLY. This is one of the worst things an Officer can do.. to rebuke someone in public. PM Only, even if the member is swearing at you, don't take it public. if you go away for an hour and it still bothers you, take it to the league staff. NOT PUBLIC, I cannot stress that enough.
In Group I ask leaguemates politely for no swearing. as the group has seen them already.
Officer Rank:
Officers can be General Officers, or heads of dept. These are only one rank and the heads of dept. are known to the senior staff, but the rank is still 'officer'.
Comms Officer: Speaks many languages, has a good knowledge of the entire league roster, their background (ASL).
Purser Officer: Trader and holder of the league cash and exos. Establishes Trade with other leagues. hands out in-game money and items to league members. (this is for large leagues, why have senior staff have to leave what they are doing to help a league mate in a simple matter?)
PVP Capt. : As mentioned before, leads and creates a PVP crew, responsible for teamwork. Brings prestige (currency) to the league.
Drill Sgt. : responsible for basic training. formation. general information. to start to form in the mind of recruits what teamwork is in dcuo. usually top recruiter, but not always.
All Officers have a duty to help the league, no matter if a head of dept. or general officer. but if an officer is out of his depth (purser being asked PVP questions) he should be forthright and honest, say he/she doesn't know the answer and to wait for the relevant person to come online. no need to get embarrassed and make up some nonsense/mis-information. It's OK."
I will expand on each facet of being an Officer and Head of Department.
---------------------------
Comms Officer:
Speaks many languages, has a good knowledge of the entire league roster, their background (ASL).
Comms Officer is like a mix of concierge/Human Resources/Party Host for the league, they have *some* of the same responsibilities as the First Officer, to schmooze, to make convivial chat.. to smooth over with light chit-chat any tensions. Like if a group are getting impatient on a Q coming up.. but that's secondary..
The main job of the Comms Officer is to make clear communication between languages. To make others comfortable.
The best way to make others comfortable is to know more about them.
In ORS we have not had a Comms Officer.. so I compensate and do a minor job of it myself.. I speak a little bad French, German, Spanish.. not in anyway great, but at a push; useable to negotiate a language barrier as long as the other person is very understanding.
As an extension of this, Senior Staff especially the League Boss maybe wish to enquire more from the Comms Officer about a member to better know them.
-----------------------------
Purser Officer:
Trader and holder of the league cash and exos. Establishes Trade with other leagues. hands out in-game money and items to league members. (this is for large leagues, why have senior staff have to leave what they are doing to help a league mate in a simple matter?)
Purser works closely with the Senior Staff, usually the League Boss.. to explain this Head of Department fully, I think we should venture into prose..
To begin with the Purser Officer should be above reproach, never a thief, always of great trustworthiness of character.
The Purser should be able to make a great deal of money, but also League trading items and be able to judge what can be used and what can be kept for trading.. the two main jobs for Purser is, to provide a little cash to members to keep them solvent.. and provide opportunities for skill points for staff.
If a staff member wants a valuable item, they will judge the worth of it to the staff member, set by limits previously discussed by themselves and the League Boss
If a staff member asks for a ?? Million item.. the Purser will judge how well the staff member has worked towards getting the item themselves, and how much the feats points are worth to the league, they also judge how pleased the League Boss will be should the Staff member receive the item.. which also includes noting what the League Boss has said about their behaviour and work for the League.
Senior Staff can overrule a Pursers judgement, but at the same time, the Purser has a responsibility to report this directly to the Boss when they log.
I do not recommend to any Senior Staff to use this power of overruling, except in times of emergency within league morale (that is NOT to say bribing someone to stay)..
Times of emergency would be.. if the League Boss is sick/not logging. Massive morale crash wave throughout the league.. in those times Senior Staff have a responsibility to keep staff morale high, members not so much.. but definitely staff.
----------------------------
PVP Capt. :
Leads and creates a PVP crew, responsible for teamwork. Brings prestige (currency) to the league.
We in ORS have usually had a PVP night.. I often recommend to the PVP Capt. wednesdays as 'PVP Night'.. but this is totally up to the PVP Capt. I let them decide what is best for themselves and the League.
The PVP Capt. is the 'show-piece' Officer.. much like Alden was in the early days of ORS, Alden alone would bring people to ORS by his excellent PVP skills, bring prestige (currency) but also respect-prestige from other members of the community.
The PVP Capt. creates and guides/teaches a PVP Crew from the members and staff.
----------------------------
Drill Sgt. :
responsible for basic training. formation. general information. to start to form in the mind of recruits what teamwork is in dcuo. usually top recruiter, but not always.
Ah! here's me.. hehe
Drill Sgt. is responsible for both teaching the basics of teamwork and also teach members how to level.
In the early days, the Drill Sgt. just levels them to a 'hand-off' point.. an agreed CR.. so say 2/3rds of the max CR, but the League Boss should be aware of the pressure put on the Drill Sgt... like giving them 'fresh off the boat'.. 'fresh off Brainiac Harvester' hehe.. no. that's not cool.. unless it was greatly discussed between the Senior Staff and the Drill Sgt.
League Boss should think well on the acceptable CR they are recruiting at.. and so not put undue pressure on the Drill Sgt.
Drill Sgt.'s become mini-mentors as often members will bond with them.. this is a very rewarding part of being this particular Head of Department. Drill Sgt's should be aware of this at all times and try to be kind.. even more especially kind to those they help.
Never be afraid to politely correct members.. it is essential they know what they are doing and do not form bad habits due to you being overly polite.. but when telling them keep in mind they probably have great respect for you helping them.. so balance it correctly.
----------------------------
General Officer:
The 'polite police' and 'civil servants' of the league. To both maintain order and at every opportunity help members achieve their goals.
Remember we are a hobbyist group.. but one that contains human adult politics. Balance within conduct creates peace. Showing such balance encourages such peace to perpetuate itself.
In short.. behaving well makes peace, that in turn makes more peace and is bolstered.. by the same good behaviour.
We hope the Officer Manual has been instructive.
Conduct and respect is everything when being a Officer. Use these words well and they in turn should serve you.
Good luck!

Streamlined system..
Hi
I have been thinking about the systems I have been extolling the virtues of, for the past year.. telling anyone who would listen, what an improvement they are..
However that said.. my morale for the game is pretty low.. as we are not receive any new powersets.. apparently ever again.
System
Despite this.. I thought up a system that cheered me up, even though its a misplaced hope, a naive stupid wish.
Once every three years, three new powersets released:
One that is a Tank class.
One that is a Healer class.
One that is a Controller class.
Each powerset takes inspiration from one of each:
Meta
Tech
Magic
The most popular requests that I have seen are Shadow, Smoke and Healer Lantern.
Shadow could be based on John Constantine and so Magic.. so Magic players would be happy to be included.
Healer Lanter could be based on Carol Ferris/Saint Walker/Indigo-One and so Tech.. so Tech players would be happy to be included.
Smoke could be based on Ra's Al Ghul and so.. wait that's Tech too, also slightly LOA magic. But you get the idea.
Lanterns walk like meta and talk like meta.. trust me.. it all works out.
So far we have: less arguing-indecision-wasting dev time about what class and what style the power is for the Dev and players as all are included :
Pick ANY three iconic characters, one from each Meta, Tech and Magic > Analyze each power to see which is close to which class > Make a class of each power into a powerset.
A good time to release the powers is after exam time.. around June. Meaning snagging new players and bringing Vets back (yes that's the function of new powersets! bringing back Vet players)
We do not have Playstation 3 limitations. In fact the game could have even more visual overhauls due to modern hardware. But that's not what this post is about. I mention it because if you cannot make something of that standard.. at least give people an epic experience with what you can. This I would say includes ongoing new powersets of people's favorite characters.
Morale
Now to circle back to my morale in the game.. honestly, I find most people friendly and polite, generally content.. but when I talk to my Vet player friends.. they are very NOT happy.. sick of no new powers talking about leaving and some have left. They keep saying 'it's not worth the money I put in to it'.. I remind them it's a hobby.. think about how much other people spend on sports.. but I more and more feel they are right; No new powers feels like the death of the game.
I'm down to two or three friends I have known for a long time of a few years.. my other Vet friends have left and not returned. Many citing either no new powers or balance as the problem.
For the second time ever.. today I fell out of love with DCUO.. I felt .. empty. I didn't feel any compulsion to return.. if it wasn't that I was talking to a friend in VC.. I would have just left.
I have around 40 friends on my FL on Sigma.. only 3 log in. I had a clear out 2 years ago.. removed 20+ former friends. None of the others have logged in for many years. I can only imagine this is a familiar story for many currently long term players their Vet friends are gone.. I am starting to feel like furniture and each friend that leaves my world gets a little smaller.. why on earth am I spending £100-£200 a month on this game?
I like the size of the new open worlds (thank you Devs) I like the new systems (again thank you).. but I can't play this game solo or do things alone that make me sad & remind me of friends I no longer have contact with. I dunno.. having been staff for a long time, I know how to boost morale for a community (league) but who boosts my morale?.. well that supposed to be the Devs and content.. that I can believe in what the Devs are doing. And so I support them with money so I can continue my hobby.. seems like a good exchange.. but I dunno.. how much is any of that worth when the Devs won't listen?
Yes the Devs have listened on other issues.. but on Vets leaving and on new powersets. Stone walled. An no movement. I've outlined at least once why new powersets brings Vets back.. gets old friends returning .. something new to talk about for experienced players, comparisons and RP and styles.. I could write a whole paragraph but.. I've already written enough.
Recruiting is a minefield of offended people these days.. which hasn't helped things.
Sigma
-----------
Yes I am aware we can have any of these three (Meta, Tech, Magic for *any* powerset) I am talking about the inspiration.
Like Atomic was based on Firestorm.. which would make it Meta.

Transition Period for Time Capsule to Promethium Boxes..
Hi
I would like suggest an idea I have had for a couple of years, but feel now is a good time to share..
Firstly.. I already have everything.. *everything* from the early Time Capsules. However.. that said.. I can see a benefit for members who haven't and so adding value to membership and the much deprecated Promethium Boxes..
My suggestion is once a year (the opposite time of the year to the mega-resurgence, 6 months after the first one of the year) cap-styles that are not included in the mega-resurgence are included in the Promethium Boxes.
For yearly and Lifetime members also including collections and other items from 'out of service' time capsules; a unlocked TC dropping once a week during the vault weekly refresh for nth metal. (Currently Wednesday iirc)
I have everything from the Promethium Boxes.. *everything*. Short of including beta and limited edition items, I cannot see any other way of increasing the value of membership via the promethium boxes.. I have been playing since 2011.. and Vet players will undoubtedly have what I have.
I would like to see the Iconic (and rare) vendors updated to all in game content (below the three DLC).. but since Time Capsules are separate we will never see them in the Iconic and Rare vendor.. so..
Maths
Currently, 'Time Capsule' and Amazon are definitely 'out of service'. So come say September.. these two styles are added to PB's for all members and the unlocked capsules are added random TC's to drop during vault weekly refresh for yearly and lifetime members.
2 new PB TC's per year. To reach this year would take 10 years.
Also it doesn't have a creep as we get 3 to 5 new caps per year, so 2 is fine.
It would be fair handed to members, keeping PB drop rates as they are now, but enabling dedicated players to have access to out of service TCs, while rewarding those who believe and support the game the most with at least one unlocked TC per week.. just as a trial as I would like to see this expanded to one a day out of service unlocked TCs.
For Devs.. it would relieve any guilt/pressure they felt to include the older TC in any mega-resurgence, worried players had missed an items. If you missed it.. either get membership for styles, or for everything, get yearly membership. Potential reduced backlash when a TC is released. Reward those who believe in the game the most. Give non-yearly members another reason to sub yearly other than saving a few monies.
Those are my thoughts..

A Winding Road..
Hey
So.. I was thinking about Eva McCulloch in the Flash TV Show.. I checked out who the actress was and.. nope not Scottish. Mirror Master is *thee only* Scottish DC character.. couldn't they have got Michelle Gomez? or even another Scottish actress??..
This set me down a winding road of thoughts.. y'know you get this 'gender politics thing' especially with Doctor Who.. people saying its misogynistic not to like Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.. but Michelle Gomez did it as the Master and everyone loved her.. the real reason is.. wait for it.. Jodie Whittaker can't act. She has no skill. With Michelle Gomez.. it didn't matter if the master/missy was male or female.. because Michelle can act.
Scots are under represented on screen.. but that's due to the rest of English speaking world not being able to understand us, but if you turn round and say.. Scots is a different language.. oh no.. you get every Englishman and his dog tell you 'it's just an accent'. To 'correct' you in front of strangers on the internet.
The original Mirror Master's name (I just found out there was one before McCulloch) is Sam Scudder .. 'Scudder' is a Scots word.. it means to be embarrassed or naked.. even though Sam was American I wonder if John Broome and Carmine Infantino knew some Scots words.. but no matter, it was syncopatic as the next incarnation would be Scottish being Evan McCulloch.. or more properly 'Evan McCulloȝh' in Scots.
I really don't care if its a male or female mirror master.. I'm beyond that.. just whoever is best for the job.. but in making a mosaic of many cultures, races and creeds.. where do I fit in.. where's the corner of the mosaic for me?
DCUO did a not bad job.. impressive.. I was over zealous when I said it was perfect.. as he would have spoken Scots throughout.. but the fact the DCUO writers were familiar with *some* Scots was endearing to me.. I want to set the record straight.. it was watered down with too many English words.. and I should not have said otherwise.. but knowing the meaning behind 'rocket'.. that was and still is special to me.
But if someone on TV is speaking.. Russian say.. they will put up subtitles. But Scots are expected to speak English.. many languages have sister languages.. Portuguese and Spanish.. Norwegian and Swedish.. Scots and English.. When Peter Capaldi was Doctor Who.. he was expected to say 'Can't' instead of 'Cannæ'.. 'to' instead of 'tæ'.. no wonder so many English people think its an accent.. they have never heard Scots spoken! All they get is Scottish Standard English.. which IS an accent. I lived in upstate NY for a short time.. only 2 people out of the 50 or so I met could understand me speaking naturally.. and all the others could only understand me if I spoke .. English. They would stop me and tell me 'I don't know what your saying.. can you speak clearer?'.. at that point I would switch to English, then they understood me. It's offensive to call Scots anything but another language if you have to ask for it to be 'clearer'.. I understand Americans.. I *get* it.. you expect English.. so does the rest of the English speaking world.. but 'clear up my accent' is an insult.. asking 'switch to English' is respectful.
The actress who will play Eva McCulloȝh is Israeli.. I don't hold out any hope of her portrayal being Scottish.. but the producers may yet prove me wrong..
However all of this lead me on a winding road of thoughts.. I've said for a long time.. I don't mind speaking English on the internet.. it's the international language, it's polite. Bit jist makin' her American wid bi a grouse o' a different fæether.

SigmaAtom's Guide to Beggars, Skaters, Scammers and all sorts of Shenanigans in DCUO
Hi
Firstly, most of this is common sense and you will most likely know it all already however it doesn't hurt to be reminded every so often. With that in mind.. grab a tea or coffee stick some music on and enjoy this read!
Begging
Begging is a blight on the community, not for obvious reasons either.. you could be feeding a Gold Seller or a Trader on a low alt.. who then goes off and makes money on what you gave them. We saw this quite a few times in ORS back in the day.. I was quick to stamp it out.
Encouraging begging is what gives those players an impression that they will receive things easily without work.. this is why you have so many league hoppers.. going from one league to another trying to get more stuff for free.
I say; if they want the stuff ask their league staff to give it to them by them earning prestige for the league they are in firstly. I once told a guy this in ORS.. he instantly left. The staff stood about laughing in amazement.. it was so brazen.. he was only here to get stuff not play with us.
Discouraging begging is *not evil*.. these aren't homeless people on the street, they aren't missing a meal by you not giving them an aura.
You don't even know what they do and don't have already.. they ask for a blue aura (or w/e) you give them it .. they keep it and just go to the style menu and pop on the blue one they had before yous met. Same for anything else.
If you will believe they people join leagues to empty a league bank to sell stuff.. then it follows you are likely to believe me when I share the above. They also empty league banks to feed an alt. I've seen this in ORS.. dude empting the league bank to feed his end-game alt... he answered 'ohw is this *not* okay?'.. what the flip!
Remind beggars.. they are here to play, not to score free stuff. Or to spam in WT/HoD for said free stuff.
Skaters
Community skating is the lowest of the low.. these people are pond scum, the telemarketers of DCUO.
Q: What is skating?
A: players that expect other players (strangers) to do the work for them.
For example: was in E3 couple of years ago when that content was new.. guy shouted for a group to kill the 300 or w/e bad guys for the 8 marks.. he had us all running around killing them but he himself.. while getting the benefit of our work just stood talking to his friends.
I am not having a go at people who participate and try to contribute .. but to those who DO NOT TRY.. and make no attempt to be part of something but still get the reward. It is INTENTION that is in question here.. we all have showed up at the end of a OW raid boss fight.. that's not what I am saying. Or had friends with higher CR carry us.. I'm not saying that either.. what I'm saying is:
Skaters: Tricking strangers in to good faith grouping or otherwise; with no intention of doing any work.
With all the new players entering higher content.. which is a system I endorse as it is overall good for the community.. we are getting.. players.. doing things like waiting until you have done most of the work, giving two strikes and getting the benefit. I abhor this behavior.. and came very close to spitting bile in the chat at them, but have no as yet, and hope I can restrain myself.
We have all earned what we have.. no one just showed up and did all the work for us.. we relied on league staff members, we relied on friends.. we participated as best we could and paid back those staff members and friends as best we could and when we could.
My former First Officer and I were recently talking about this.. we were in Chaos Gotham collecting the magic motes together.. I noticed he was just standing on the platforms in the sky in Robinson Park and I said to him he was being cheeky.. he replied 'why should I have to work when my minions can do the work for me?' .. he was joking about this because we had been talking about skating (we were the only two grouped so he meant minion=me).. but I didn't mind so much as I owed him for a lot of help leveling my many many alts.. I did call him a 'cheeky git'.. and we laughed.
Even though we disagreed on some of the minor points of skating.. he was making my point for me. His opinion is.. if you are very low, you might need that help, I say they should have to earn it or join a league and contribute to that league and in return their own league staff will help them. His way is kinder.. my way grows the community as a whole and sures it up, as staff contact is the way players stay in the game and don't just leave.
Scammers
We all know the oft told tale of they said this/they did this.. gimme my money.. gimme my reset. But all of this can be easily avoided.. and besides harming someone's rep in a game can become serious.. as you are messing of the politics of adults.
The easy way is buy/sell too from reputable traders.. I know 2 on the EU server. I even occasionally trade myself and sell resets (PC) but very rarely.. and always cash first. I just met you and I'm not giving you my trust..
But that's the crux of the matter.. who goes first? chicken and the egg.. welp.. don't deal with people you don't know or only deal with friends of friends.. have someone voucher for them that you trust.
If they scam you.. report them to their league boss, making sure you have screenshots of the event. These scammers will NOT enjoy ANY repercussions as they planned to get away 'scott-free' and you hurting them spoils the scam for them.
Like most of life.. you need proof of what you say if you have a dispute, as truth is the great leveller.
Donkeys
I believe in helping the community.. however doing a load of donkey work for a non-leaguer, no. They should join a league and get their league staff to help.. and if they don't have any league staff because they are in a dead league.. they need to leave that league and find another. If they are league staff in a dead league..as staff you should be more than capable to level.
Joining a league just to hide a low alt from you main league and getting the other leagues staff to level the low char. Not acceptable.
Help out the community every so often, one.. maybe two instances if you like them.. and the rest, leave them to their league staff or try to recruit them on their main.
Give it to them freely and without expectation of reward.. but if they want more, I for one expect it returned, either in kind (help me level an alt) or via prestige for the league (join the league).
Seen but Not Heard
Ohw by flip I hate this.. straight off, don't like under 18 year olds being in this game. Actually I'm Scottish and 16yo is pretty much adulthood here.. so.. I'm fine with 16yo + but.. since the ROW is 18.. okay no big deal, don't care that much in DCUO to argue over 2 years. I just don't want to interact with children in this game. I have a story from my DCUO blog I would like to share, its from many years ago, but encapsulates the interaction of strange adults and strange children.
25th/June/2016
* "Quick story..
So I was leveling one of my low alts last week.. and some guy in Gotham shout kept asking for help. I pm'd him saying I would switch and help. I did so. he managed to inv me to group after a pm. he had already ninja invited another high CR player (who I had been acquainted with in a duo that morning on another alt). i told the other high cr, that I would get this.
We went to ace chemicals, the guy we'll call R.. R had just hit 30 and was trying to do the alert solo. half way through I became curious about recruiting, as he was a non leaguer, I knew if i told him this and about ORS's age requirements he'd just lie and say he was 18 just for the help.. so I asked him 'what age are you.. whats your story R?'.. he replied '12.. england'.. well I dunno what to say to 12yo that i'm not related to.. so i said 'school hols eh?' .. I had *no idea*. then he replied 'dean trust'.. at first I thought it was his real name so I said 'no no R's fine.. don't tell me your real name' .. then he suddenly logged. it was a typo! it was 'don't trust'. flip.. what are 12yo doing in this game!! it's bad enough we have teens. DB *really* should make it '18+' only if they don't already. I don't care about profits i don't want any stranger danger for helping low levels o.o
I was half way through ace chems too! but luckily enough I popped a treasure chest and it gave me something I needed... oh! and I got my *first* kick me epic back sold that on broker for 1 mil. nice!"
I will now expand on this and say, take screenshots of all your interactions at every point you can. Especially with children. I can only hope Dimensional Ink aka DayBreak.. raises the age inside DCUO to 16 at least for all new sign-ups going forward, as this afaik, is the legal age to get a bank account and so begin spending money in DCUO. Which will encourage their profits and protect their members.
Shenanigans
ORS was founded in 2012, I have been league boss since it's founding have seen all sorts of crazy shenanigans:
Dude had been with us 2 weeks.. kept PM'ing me saying he wanted the officer training. Gave him the training (takes around 4 to 6 weeks). Becomes an officer: empties the officer bank and leaves.
Dude joins, I spend 4 weeks helping him level to end game. I log in and he has left without a word and joined a new league. I PM him asking what was going on.. he told me 'ohw my little brother had access to my account.. I'm back in my main league.' after this PM he changed his name (because Wavedox/Census pics don't lie + same league).. so he had just lied to me and got me to Donkey his alt so he could join his main league. I have the highest contempt for this guy. May he forever be in failed raids!
I used to know quite a few league staff of other leagues back in the day.. guy wants to buy a reset, I foolishly give him the reset first.. he goes away laughing. 30 minutes later his league boss came on.. we were acquaintances.. I told her what happened, she told me this was third report she had of this guy doing this; she kicked him. He came up to my spot in WT and started begging me to say to his league boss to let him back in and that he had been with them since the start (I assume 2011).. he even offered to pay me the money he owed me.. but I felt it was worth it for him to learn a lesson.. not only should he not be messing with other league staff.. as league staff know the value of community.. he most definitely should not be scamming anyone.
I hope I have gave you some practical things to think about in your adventures in DCUO..
and regardless..
Have a great and bizzare day!
Sigma
