The ORS Senior Staff Training Manual.

Hello and Welcome to the ORS Senior Staff Training Manual.

Please take your time to familiarize yourself with the work and ideas represented here. We in ORS also wish to extend this training to any ORS child league's senior staff.

Please read the Terms and Conditions before continuing. This manual is for ORS/ORS child only, by continuing reading you agree to the terms and conditions.

The Manual
--------------

Senior Ranks :

League Boss (leader)
First Officer
Tactical Officer

League Boss:

First and foremost you should learn how morale impacts your small community, you by even the nature of the league system are the linchpin of your community. how you behave is watched by all, and often imitated. Acting in good character inspires others to to do the same. Don't be afraid to take charge of a situation, and never let another in the league take control of your actions, conversely always listen to their desires. This can be be achieved in a polite way. If an officer thinks he/she is alpha 'dog' no need to beat him down verbally about it, simply state that you were only looking for suggestions; not commands.

Be kind, when you can be kind; be harsh when a rule is fluanted.

Dressing Down

Dressing down from a league boss is a little bit more serious than from the other staff, remember you are not trying to satisfy your own ego, you are trying to instruct them to learn and grow. It is not about your power over a person, but what value you can bring to that person in the form of tutelage and inspiration, We want to enable them to correct their actions, not feel bad for offending you.

Politics

This job comes with advanced and weighty politics; as you are responsible for keeping even the staffs morale high. Without your attendance, the staff see no reason to return and continue doing the work you trained them for, why should they? you did not even bother to show up!When people leave remember to keep an eye on them via wavedox. they may wish to seek harm upon ORS because they were removed. Keep an eye on other league staff, not in a bad way, these might be valuable allies and you too can afford them aid.

Be friends with other league bosses. other league staff, you might think because someone is in a solo- league they lack importance, but that thinking is short sighted, meeting and naturally making friends with even a solo-league boss, can boost both your morales. But also you should not dismiss the chance that his solo-league maybe become popular and so he becomes an important ally.

The staff often get a jolt of morale when you tell them you are friends with other league bosses and staff, don't overplay your hand, once a month to put it in the conversation is enough.

Removal of Members and Staff.

This is your job. If members do not value and contribute to ORS/ ORS child league; they must be removed. You, as league boss can grant 'grace of leave' this is an agreement between yourself and a member. If a member then breaks that agreement, they *must* be removed for the sake of morale, but more importantly the sake of staff morale, the staff morale of which; makes running the league possible.

Recruitment

Finding the correct balance between your own personal recruiting, and the staffs is often a talent, mostly is depends on the morale of the Officers while they were being trained, and if you showed great confidence in recruiting while training them. Much of this is the First Officers job, however you should note your influence with the staff in respects to recruitment.

Note to the Child League's Boss

Never use the system of co-leaders, your league will be ripped apart, you will never garner respect from your staff and you will end up a casual league. It is like handing your panties to someone you just met. never do it. having three senior staff works for many reasons that I hope you will glimpse within this Training Manual.

You will find it difficult to not be the role you were as an officer. Be it general staff or head of dept.
This is fine while you are learning being a league boss for the first time, and you may grow and be unable to change that. This is all fine, but you do need a First Officer that will counter and balance but also provide unity.

First Officer

The First Officer's job is to be the unifying force of the league, to rally everyone behind the Boss.

A second voice of thought to actions about to be taken.
Be able to discuss the morale of the league and be able to give suggestion on improvement.

The First Officer should be an outstanding recruiter; this is not always so, but when choosing an Officer to replace a FO, this quality is of huge advantage,

Politics

the FO's handling of politics is much like the league bosses, so please read above.I have never had senior staff remove members for bad behavior, as I have always done this, however I expect them to be able to do so. Especially the politics of ORS for an FO it is vital.

Another job of the FO is to check on the staffs morale, they may wish to open up to the FO before they perhaps embarrass themselves before their Boss.

Tactical Officer

The TO's job is to plan the future of the league, how to expand and grow the league, but also, to be the third voice within the senior staff, should a disagreement come between the Boss and FO.

Being TO is the easiest of the three jobs. Things like planning events and organising members to do tasks for feats or other things.

Shifts

Determine between all three senior staff what times are convenient for each senior staff members to take. agree between the three of you. there should one member of senior staff online at all times (or as close as possible).

Each Senior Staff 'on shift' is responsible for :

1. helping members and staff, before doing their own content.
2. keeping an eye on the attendance of  members and staff.
3. maintain the ideals of ORS at all times.
4. upholding morale of the league as a whole.
5. instructing members and staff on the correct way things are to be done, however with this caveat; you should be polite at all times.

We hope the Senior Staff Training Manual has been instructive.

There is no test, real life is the test as you are now dealing with real people with a real psychology.

Good luck!

Lazy players AKA 'skating'

Hi guys

So.. im not going to point any fingers, but the rumors seem to be true* . needed to get that out.

So over the last month or so.. skating on EU server been between average (after server merge) to bad.

example:

During Mist Recovery, we had this healer stand on the top of a building.the remaining three of us fighting and dying*. So i switched to troller and went over to him.

i said 'hi man you coming?'
he replied 'eat'
me: huh?..no dude we need you.
him: I help later for boss battle.

Then another group member came up to him understandable miffed.
and said '?????'
and I said ' no you won't. we will kick you.'

And kick him we did.

This *keeps* happening.and the weird thing is, you can't kick them for a few minutes, for some reason. prolly to protect everyone from auto/nasty kicking.

I mean.. if an acquaintance PM's me and we make a deal that they will pay me for the work. OK. then its been agreed. OR if you have a leaguemate on a league run, and it's agreed by the staff that they should skate. then OK. but random strangers standing at the start expecting everyone else to do the work. AND NOT GET KICKED?. no way.

First day of the merge. I put together a CC reaper raid team.

6 PS players
2 PC players.

The PS players hid in places; trying to not do the reaper farming. hoping the others would do the work. so i started kicking them for just standing around. until it was only me and the other PC guy.

Shocking behavior!

there are many good PS players. but the sheer chunk of ultra lazy ones is an embarrassment to you all.

Sigma

*We had zero skating on PC server before the merge. period.
*I was leveling a lower alt.
